The Legal and Assistance to Nationals Services Section extends help and support to all Filipinos in Taiwan be they residents, overseas workers or tourists and transients. The specific services are as follows:

• 24 hour, 7 day a week on call duty to attend to urgent needs of Filipino nationals and overseas workers in Taiwan.



• Legal assistance in criminal and civil cases filed against Filipino nationals including translation/interpretation services during investigation, interrogation and court proceedings.
  
  
• Assistance regarding domestic problems like custody of children, divorce proceedings, separation of properties, support, execution of legal documents, settlement of disputes.



• Servicing of summons issued by Philippine courts involving Filipinos residing and working in Taiwan and taking of depositions in cases pending in the Philippine courts requiring the same.



• Conduct of autopsy, sealing of caskets and arrangement for the repatriation of remains of Filipino nationals.



• Although basically lodged in the Labor and OWWA Offices, the section also attends to matters concerning the contractual relations of overseas workers in Taiwan.
  
  
• Assistance in procuring police clearance certificate as well as verification of late registration of birth/marriage certificate for those who resided/worked and had since left Taiwan.
  
  
• Assistance to illegal workers and overstaying tourists arrested by Taiwan authorities; assistance in facilitating their deportation to the Philippines; for those intending to surrender, assistance in facilitating the surrender to the Taiwan authorities and the requirements for deportation.
